Maruchan Yakisoba Cheddar Cheese
I am going to keep this one short. I tried Maruchan Yakisoba Cheddar Cheese Flavor, and it was HORRIBLE.
Sure, I did not cook it perfectly. Yes, I know it is instant ramen but every great artist messes up his works. Ignoring the clumps of cheese, it tasted more artificial than Kraft Mac & Cheese Chicken Ramen, which is saying something!
I mean holy hell, that’s Kraft Mac & Cheese, known for putting plastic in their food! It tasted so gritty, so unsmooth, so crappy that I gagged. I gagged eating this.
Don’t bother. Cup Noodles is better - that shitty ready-in-60-seconds-for-2-cents mac and cheese is better.
0/10.
I mean hell, I would rather eat Kraft Mac & Cheese, and they have been known to put PLASTIC IN THEIR FOOD! That is how bad this is.
Man, I am trying to lose weight, and I would rather eat plastic cough cough Kraft Mac & Cheese cough cough than this.
TL;DR
0/10. Clumpy, gritty, worse than Kraft. That’s the bar.
Kraft Mac & Cheese stuff
I mention Kraft a bunch in this post. If you want to read up on the phthalate testing, lawsuits, and recalls:
Phthalates in cheese powder (2017 testing)
- Ecology Center: 2017 press release
- Ecology Center: Kraft response
- Toxic-Free Future: same study
- EWG: Kraft-Heinz rejects phthalate removal
- Mashed: includes Kraft’s statement
Class-action lawsuits (2021)
Metal and plastic recalls
- TIME: 2015 metal recall
- Fortune: metal pieces reported
- The Takeout: metal + Kraft Singles plastic recall
- FDA recall database (search “Kraft Macaroni Cheese 2015”)
The phthalate thing is trace chemicals from packaging/manufacturing, not Kraft dumping plastic in the box. The recalls are a separate thing.
